Tuesday 8/17/10 - "BLANK MIND"

"BLANK MIND"

What can I say about this ugly joint
That's the predicament I find I'm in
Writing a story or poem is the point
I've no inspiration with which to begin

Oh how I want to write a Magpie Tale
Like all you creative bloggers do
But my mind is blank without detail
With this little rhyme you'll have to make-do

Monday 8/16/10 - "BUSY"

"BUSY"

Today (Sunday) began with an Al-Anon meeting at 11:00 followed by meetings with two Al-Anon sponsees, first a short visit with one followed by a longer meeting with the other to begin working on Step 4 using "Paths to Recovery". By the time I got home daughter and hubby who were both gone this morning were back. Mr. Steve and I went for a quick coffee at one of our favorite spots, Starbucks. It was a farewell coffee since hubby is leaving tomorrow on a scooter trip.

This evening I spent time with daughter watching a movie. She suffers constantly with sinus infections and it was good to just sit and relax. People with sinus trouble seem to be particularly affected adversely in this part of the country. I also had conversations with two of my other sponsees during the night. It has been a busy day.

Daughter is preparing to start a new job tomorrow. She has been out of work for about 3 months and the company who let her go three months ago has rehired her to do do marketing for them. I am preparing to start back at my volunteer job at the hospital doing pastoral care after being on sabbatical for the summer. I will be praying for guidance. Being off three months means I have fallen out of the routine, but I know I will return to the pattern quickly.

Please pray for me, my daughter and my husband as we move into our separate activities and in different directions tomorrow.

Heard at a meeting:

Don't tell God how big your mountains are, tell your mountains how big your God is.

Friday 8/13/10 - "GOOD MORNING GOD" - FFF55

FLASH FICTION FRIDAY 55

"GOOD MORNING GOD"

Each morning as she awakes, sometimes with eyes shut and sometimes open, she says, "Good Morning, God." She "plugs in", starting her day in prayer.

As the busy day progresses moments come reminding her to return to that connection with the power she lacks.

It is then that she pauses, silent, and says, "Hello, God."

Thursday 8/12/10 - "FORETOLD" - A Theme Thursday (palm)

THEME THURSDAY
(palm)

"FORETOLD"

I met a woman in the islands far away
She's the only who's ever read my palm
She held my hand under the palms that sway
I allowed her this intrusion with no qualm

She foretold that one day I would die
As a plane goes down and I'm inside
I wondered if this might be a lie
And I could set the prediction aside

Many years later I had a dream
Screaming metal heralded my death
Within that plane there was no scream
I felt nothing as I drew last breath

My conscious mind remained intact
As I stood up from the mangled wreck
I wondered how I should react
As I began my new celestial trek
