"SNOW WHITE - SNOW OLD"

Her eyes slowly opened. She felt very weird, not right at all. For one thing her body felt heavy, a little achy and some pains here and there. Her young body never felt this way. Without moving she began to look around and came to focus on long strands of gray hair. They were growing out of her head. Where were her blond curls?

Turning her eyes the other way she saw an apple with a large bite missing from it. The apple looked fresh, but something about it seemed strange. She very slowly began to remember an apple taken out of a basket and handed to her. What was this apple resting on? It looked like some kind of paper.

As she pondered these puzzling questions she began to remember the bite she had taken from an apple that looked like the one in front of her. She must have fallen into a deep sleep, a coma? What had brought her awake after what must have been many years? Though the apple looked as it had, she had become an old woman. Where was she? What had she missed? What had she lost?

She had no answers, but a thought came into her mind, "Where there is breath, there is hope. Where there is breath, there are possible answers." She arose to meet this new day.

I like that "where there is breath there is hope."

I liked your fairy tale approach to the theme. Surely there is a prince around there somewhere who will kiss her and bring back her youth.

How horrible, to lose all that time...but better to have a second chance at life than none at all!

I feel like my youth was gone just as suddenly as this! It is scary, in a way. Love the hopeful ending.
