Friday 4/30/10 - "FOREST MAGIC"

FLASH FICTION FRIDAY 55

"FOREST MAGIC"

Asleep? Dreaming? Sleepwalking?
Heavy wooden lids kept her eyes shuttered.
Thoughts flickered around.
Cool air kissed her skin as she shivered under its touch.
Then she woke to the soaring forest above her.
She vanished into insignificance.
Her breath left her as she gazed up at the majesty towering above her.
Magic brought her here.

Mystical work, Prayer Girl. I wander off into the forest, too, in mine. Here’s my 55 after midnight Pacific Time.

I'll have what ever she had... Gone for a poem this week based on the Etheree form created about twenty years ago by an Arkansas poet named Etheree Taylor Armstrong It normally consists of ten lines of unmetered and unrhymed verse, the first line having one syllable, each succeeding line adding a syllable. I added an extra row for the word count and the punch line. See what I mean here.

Nice! Much of nature leaves us insignificant. Too bad the majority don't see this, the majesty that surrounds us.

I noticed in your comment at Brian's that you lost your mother to Alzheimer’s. I recently devoted a post to the subject I thought you might like. It's right below my 55.

Have a nice weekend.

what a beautiful 55, it takes me back to my childhood and visits with grandma, who lived in such a wood as you describe here...

That looks like a multiposter bed with a beautiful canopy of green.
