Monday, September 29, 2008-CALLING ALL "PRAY-ERS"

CALLING ALL "PRAY-ERS"

Monday morning I will be reporting to the Chaplain of our local community hospital. I have met with him once and am proceeding with the next steps into a new career as a volunteer pastoral care assistant. I will be "in training" with him and with a mentor before being out on my own with patients.

When I took my third step, I turned "ALL" over to the care of God and have done my best to leave it there for 23 years. This is where He has led me today.

Please pray that I may have success in bringing the love of the God I have come to know to the vulnerable people in crises I will meet.

Thanks for the prayers from all you "PRAY-ERS".

This new venture will bring you AND them closer to God. The patients will witness first hand God's healing power, through your words and touch.

Those are fortunate, who will come to know you, Prayer-Girl.

Where to begin...

You may have to deal with some heavy stuff. I wish you success in your endeavor.

The Mormon bishop of Michael's church has had to deal with some heavy, heavy issues of Mike's, some of which I have not been able to post in my blog. I just found out today that he is only 27 years old. I've met him several months ago and did not remember he was that young.

He lead by spirit and prayer and I do not think he has any training with mental illness, etc.

He has been wonderful. And here am I, an ex-Mormon saying that. He calls me almost daily to get updates on Mike from me and to give me updates of Mike of his own. He has been there for Mike in his time of confusion and need.

What a great role you may play in the lives of others.

What a blessing, for everyone involved. I think this will be one of the best gifts sobriety and God has given you. Stretching those muscles of compassion and empathy and love. You GO, girl!

You will be wonderful. The pastor at the hospital where my father was cared for until his death was instrumental in helping him come to terms with his faith(that he had previously rejected) before he died. I will be forever grateful to her.

I may start RCIA. Very interested to hear about that.

PG, I'm so glad that you're blogging and sharing your amazing life and words with us (me, really). I'm not sure that I'm a "pray-er", but I'll try to think really positive thoughts for you, ok?
Thanks, and good luck!
