Friday 1/15/2010 - "THE BARN"

FLASH FICTION FRIDAY 55

"THE BARN"

Brightly colored skirts swirled as women danced in squares under the brilliant lights strung from the huge barn's loft.

Inside the great barn door, the final pitch of hay landed in the wagon as excited couples scrambled in. First loves being born on this hayride.

The barn of memories is gone now. Sweet remembrances remain.

PG....Very few 55's will come close to this one today.
Absolutely PERFECT in every way!
The older I get, the bigger on memories I become.
Thanks for this wonderful contribution, and have a great week-end.

(you didn't like my 55?)

I LOVE this one, PG! Very creative and obviously heartfelt.

Lovely! I thoughtlessly drive past so many half-collapsed houses and barns, without regard for the lives they were once a part of. This makes you go a little deeper.

Touching 55.

I hate to see old barns and houses fall into decay and disrepair. I wonder at all the old houses have seen and heard. Thankfully, many are being restored. Sad about the barn.

PG I love seeing old barns and farm houses, there use to be a lot of them before modern farming took up every spare inch of land. Once in awhile I still come across one on a back road, I stop and reflect on the life of the people who once farmed this great land we live in. Glad to know I am not the only one who gets sentimental and nostalgic.

Thanks for your comments and prayers!
